Trading Online Voucher: up to €2,500 toward your website
Last updated: June 2026
Short answer: the Trading Online Voucher can fund up to €2,500, or 50% of your eligible costs (whichever is lower), to help your small business start or grow trading online. It's run by your Local Enterprise Office. For many businesses it turns the cost of a new website into roughly half of what it would otherwise be.
Important: grant schemes change and the details vary by county. This is a plain-English overview to help you understand your options — always confirm current eligibility, amounts and terms with your own Local Enterprise Office before relying on a voucher. We'll never promise you a grant we can't guarantee.
What is the Trading Online Voucher?
It's a government-backed support, administered through the network of Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs), designed to help small Irish businesses get online — whether that's a first website, an online shop, or improving how you sell digitally. The state co-funds the project so the cost to you is much lower.
How much can you get?
- Up to €2,500, or 50% of eligible expenditure (exclusive of VAT) — whichever is the lesser.
- So on a €2,500 eligible project, you could receive up to €1,250 back.
Who typically qualifies?
Common criteria (confirm the current version with your LEO):
- Fewer than 10 employees
- Turnover under €2 million
- Trading for at least 6 months
- Limited or no existing online trading presence
How to apply (step by step)
- 1. Contact your Local Enterprise Office and check current eligibility for your county.
- 2. Attend the information session if one is required (often a short webinar).
- 3. Get quotes from suppliers for the work — this is where we provide an itemised quote.
- 4. Submit your application with the quotes and any required documents.
- 5. Get approval first — don't start the work until you're approved.
- 6. Complete the project, pay the supplier, then claim your portion back per your LEO's process.
Trading Online Voucher vs Grow Digital Voucher
You may also hear about the Grow Digital Voucher, which replaced the Trading Online Voucher in much of the LEO network and offers up to €5,000 (50% co-funded). There's one crucial catch for website projects:
The Grow Digital Voucher does not support bespoke website development — it funds software subscriptions, configuration and training, not custom build fees. The Trading Online Voucher is the more website-relevant scheme. Which one is available, and what it covers, depends on your county — so check with your LEO which applies to you.
How AlBright helps you spend it
We've built our service around exactly this: getting Irish small businesses online, affordably, with fixed quotes. When you're applying for a voucher, we:
- Provide the itemised quote and project description your LEO needs.
- Scope the build to fit what's eligible and approved.
- Build it in-house — a fast, mobile-ready, easy-to-run site (see what a website costs in Ireland for our pricing).
- Hand it over with training so you can run it yourself.
Tell us about your business and we'll send a quote you can use for your application — no pressure, no jargon.
